Cheaha Mountain BoysWayne Brown : Born and raised at the foot of the famous Cheaha Mountain. Spent most of his time exploring Cheaha fishing and panning for gold. When he's not out in the woods he likes to sip a little moonshine and pick a little guitar or bass. Tried to learn some fancy bass playing by watching Bassmasters on the TV. But all them boys did was fish. Jim Marsh : Most days you can find Jim out at his house at the foot of Cheaha next to the National Forest picking his banjo. He started out as a young boy picking his nose. His mother kept pulling his hand down to a natural position to play banjo. Soon he was up to his knuckles in banjo picks and making that banjo sound like the silverware drawer dumped down the steps. Nobody knows what he grows in them woods, but he always seems to be smiling about something. Richard Gilewitz: That boy aint from around here but he can pick a little banjo. He tours the world playing his guitar and telling funny stories. We're not sure but we think he tells stories about us when he's out there on the road. Jerome Crawford: That boy can sure pick a mandolin. He can play guitar just as good. He was raised in the city and is not as good in the woods as Wayne & Jim. He grew up in Anniston. That's the big city close to Cheaha where " The Boys" get together and pick some home-style bluegrass music. It's like a Bluegrass Buffet. Oh yea, keep Jerome picking, cause he can talk the horns off a billy goat. When I told him we were doing some songs for IRAA he thought it was some kind of retirement thing.
