Santa Cruz Guitar Company
Richard Hoover began building guitars in 1972, his focus was on the modern steel
string guitar. The task of becoming a master at all aspects of guitar making is
a lifelong pursuit, and Richard has patiently refined his craftsmanship and
knowledge as his company has grown. Each Santa Cruz guitar receives an
extraordinary amount of individual attention due to their "bench style " of
building, which necessitates that of each worker not only perform his own
specialty, but also review the work of those who have complemented stages before
him. Over half of all the instruments that we build are custom orders,
reflecting to a high degree the personality and unique playing needs of the
buyer. The balance, tone, volume, and response of a Santa Cruz guitar are
established before the guitar is strung. By limiting the number of instruments
built, they can practice a style of lutherie born from a genuine love of the
guitar, as opposed to a production line approach that might favor greater
numbers at the expense of our attention to detail.
Santa Cruz 0M/PW
The 0M/PW incorporates "Pre-War" (PW) advanced X bracing and
simple, elegant appointments in a world class instrument. The result is a guitar
in tune with the needs of working musicians and serious amateurs, at a
price unmatched for an acoustic of this caliber. The advanced X bracing
provides a distinctive "open" sound. With the accent on bass response, this
instrument is particularly well suited for rhythm playing, fingerstyle, and
vocal accompaniment.

Santa Cruz D/PW
The success of the OM/PW motivated our decision to build a D
Pre-War. This guitar incorporates all of Santa Cruz Guitar Company's
extensive experience in making acoustic guitars, and puts it to work in an
elegant but simpler format. The advanced X braces give this particular guitar an
incredible presence and bass response yet retains a good balance with strong
midrange and bright powerful treble response.

Santa Cruz 0M/M
Santa Cruz presents the Orchestra Model as a
small body guitar with a very powerful sound. The balance of the 0M favors the
bass to mid-range, inviting comparison to a small dreadnought. The 0M has become
a favorite of fingerstylists and players preferring the comfort of a smaller
body that delivers considerable power. This model is their most versatile and
popular guitar.
